Rob's directorial work ranges from comedy to drama and film to series. Titles include Roommate Wanted, Immortal, Lifelines, All You Can Eat, Yes, and more.
Rob takes a script from conception through production to release. He is often commissioned to write scripts. His written films include Lifelines, All You Can Eat, She wants Me, and more.
In addition to producing his own work, Rob also operates Different Duck Films, through which he has produced films All You Can Eat, I'd Like To Be Alone Now, Yes, and more.
Rob Margolies graduated from Chapman University with a BFA in Film Production. During his senior year, he was awarded a scholarship that entitled him to be mentored by Oscar Winning Director William Friedkin. Margolies also produced the first ever film by the Duffer Brothers, creators of “STRANGER THINGS”, who were his fellow students. In 2009, Rob was honored as the Chapman University Alumnus of the Year.
Margolies’ first movie “LIFELINES” stars Jane Adams, Dreama Walker, Joe Morton, and Josh Pais. It was purchased and distributed by Kanbar Entertainment after it won several awards at film festivals across the country.
Margolies’ second movie “SHE WANTS ME” received worldwide distribution by Lionsgate, and stars Josh Gad, Hilary Duff, and Charlie Sheen, and many more stars. Margolies’ third movie, “ROOMMATE WANTED” stars Alexa Vega, Spencer Grammer, and Kathryn Morris, and it was also purchased and distributed worldwide by Lionsgate.
Currently, Margolies has three feature films being released worldwide in 2020. On June 1st, “ALL YOU CAN EAT”, starring Randy Quaid, Kathy Najimy, Ashley Johnson, Jason Mewes, and Peter Scolari. On September 1st, “IMMORTAL” starring Tony Todd, Dylan Baker, Mario Van Peebles, Agnes Bruckner, Vanessa Lengies, and Robyn Bartlett. And on December 1st, “YES” starring Nolan Gould, Oscar Nunez, and Siobhan Fallon.
Additionally, Margolies has served as a writer, producer, and/or director on a variety of TV shows, web series, and feature films. His most recent films as a producer are “NEVER HEARD”, a faith based gospel film with an all-star cast now on Netflix, “I’D LIKE TO BE ALONE NOW”, featuring a knockout ensemble cast, was re-leased worldwide by Gravitas Ventures, and “LOVE AND COMMUNICATION” a wonderful true story about a family’s struggle raising an autistic son, is in post-production.
In the works, Margolies is currently attached to several other feature films with all-star casts, including “MAN AND WITCH”, “BOBCAT MORETTI”, “BURNING GIRL”, “THE INTIMACY COORDINATOR” and “THE HOME”.
